Yes, this plant is real, it is alive and rooted. Also known as Austrocylindropuntia subulata - a non-spiny but fuzzy relative of Eve's needle. The leaves are awl-like and green-yellow and can grow up to 5 inches on a mature plant. It grows up to 13 feet in the native habitat but much smaller in cultivation.
