Straight from Disneyland CA! I recently got a custom tail for my boy so I no longer need this. It attaches around the waist with velcro. The straps are currently tied in a knot because the velcro is worn. It will still hold but can't take much movement before coming apart. It is reccomended to change it out if possible! Otherwise, having it tied around your waist works just fine ^^
