He lived close to his great grandfather & learn to love the soil, learn to ride horses, leading his brother & sisters in games, going to school, studying surveying, joining in the hunts & other gaieties of Mount Vernon.
The d’Aulaires worked 2 years of this picture book of George Washington, absorbing every detail not only on his life but of the life of his times. They acquired information & facts from several books.
