Tall studio pottery vase with a strong, earthy presence and a beautifully reactive glaze. The form is compact and weighty, with a slightly flared shoulder and straight cylindrical body. The surface shows layered brown, umber, and mossy green tones with heavy kiln texture, pooling, and natural pitting that give it a rugged, almost volcanic character. The glaze breaks and runs organically, catching light differently from every angle. It feels intentional and expressive rather than decorative, very much in the studio pottery tradition.
The base is clearly hand-finished and signed “Woods 8/12,” indicating a studio maker and date. This is not mass-produced ware; it has the irregularities and surface depth collectors look for in handmade ceramic work. At roughly 5 x 5 x 6 inches, it works well as a standalone sculptural object, a shelf piece, or a vessel for dried stems.
